This is takeoff footage of a Silk Air Airbus A319 TakeOff at Koh Samui Airport in Thailand. The video includes two separate aircraft whose takeoffs have been edited to produce one takeoff video. These aircraft have registrations 9V-SBD and 9V-SBE

We are standing at Pagoda Khao Hua Jook Temple (hence the bells that are sometimes heard in the background) on Koh Samui, Thailand looking down and plane spotting at Koh Samui Airport (USM). Koh Samui is a very small airport with a limited amount of daily flights going in and out of Koh Samui. The majority of flights on and off the island are operated by Bangkok Airways who were also the builders of the airport. Construction of Koh Samui Airport started in 1982 and the airport was officially opened in April 1989. Koh Samui is located approximately 2 kilometers North of Chaweng Beach, one of the main tourist hubs on this Thai island located in the Gulf of Thailand.

The footage shown in this video is of two Silkair Airbus A319-132´s taking off from Koh Samui Airport. Both of these passenger aircraft where heading for Singapore Changi Airport (SIN). The A319 with the registration 9V-SBD (taking off) was delivered to SilkAir in March 2002. Prior to that this Silk Air Airbus has not had any previous owners or operators. The aircraft als had its first flight in March 2002. The second A319 with registration 9V-SBE was delivered to Silk Air in October 2005, prior to that this SilkAir Airbus does not appear to have been owned or operated by any other airline. This aircraft had its first flight in September 2005.

Wiki writes about SilkAir, “SilkAir (Singapore) Private Limited (Tamil: சில்க்ஏர்)(Chinese: 勝安航空 Shèng’ān Hángkōng) is an airline with its head office in Airline House in Singapore; previously it was on the fifth storey of the SIA Superhub in Singapore. It is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines and operates scheduled passenger services from Singapore to 44 cities in Southeast Asia, the Indian Subcontinent, China and Australia. As the regional wing of Singapore Airlines, it serves the short-haul destinations in the Singapore Airlines Group network…”

Wiki writes about Koh Samui Airport, “Samui International Airport, also known as Ko Samui Airport or Koh Samui Airport, is a privately owned airport on the island of Ko Samui (Koh Samui) in Thailand…The airport has two terminals (Domestic & International). The International terminal is located about 50 metres north of the domestic. Samui Airport is located near the Big Buddha Pier where ferries depart to Ko Pha Ngan. High speed ferries to Koh Tao and Chumphon depart from the Maenam Beach Pier, approximately 6 km north-west of the airport…”

Airbus writes about the Airbus A319, “As a shortened-fuselage version of Airbus’ A320 cornerstone single-aisle jetliner, the A319 continues to prove its versatility – enabling carriers around the world to benefit from the aircraft’s range options and seat layout flexibility…In addition to the standard 124-seat configuration with a range of up to 3,740 nautical miles, Airbus offers an option with a seating capacity of up to 156 passengers – a version that is being ordered by an increasing number of low-cost airlines…”

This aviation footage from Koh Samui Airport (USM) is filmed on the island of Koh Samui located in the Gulf of Thailand Sea in Thailand. We are filming Koh Samui Airport from above at a beautiful monks temple called Pagoda Khao Hua Jook. This is one of Koh Samui´s must see attractions as it is also a view point offering fantastic views to the North, South, East and West of Koh Samui Airport. If you enjoy a birds Eye View of airports then this tropical airport is a plane spotters dream! Only drawback is the limited number of flights and the limited number of airlines!

Really awesome! And I definitely like your slow-motion shots, I just would prefer music to the distorted engine sound, but that's just my opinion of course! 😉
