Pattaya Beach & Mezzo Coffee Shop – Vlog 114

An early afternoon in Pattaya where I checked out the beach at Soi 1 and Soi 5, and also had a nice Croissant sandwich at Mezzo Coffee Shop.

Parts of this video include:

0:04 Heading to the 7-Eleven to pick up some supplies
2:20 A stroll down Soi 1 to the beach
4:38 Pattaya beach around Soi 1
7:55 Mezzo Coffee Shop
10:57 Pattaya beach around Soi 5
12:48 Soi 6 beach area, and a look at the back of the buildings
14:00 Outro from the Crazy Horse Circus bar in Patong

Additional notes:

All the speedboats are now strewn through Pattaya bay day and night and is a sight to get used to. They were all refused docking and parking at Bali Hai pier from November 2016 due to a parking dispute, and the army brought the whip down big time on the boat operators.

It’s 40 baht to hire a deck chair on the beach. You can stay as long as you want but there are a lot of annoying hawkers that pass by every so often. Better to sit near the back if you don’t want to be disturbed.

Mezzo Coffee shop is a franchise that can be found throughout Thailand. Their croissant sandwiches are pretty good all things considered and this one was a winner.

Pattaya can be a very unforgiving place, especially if you live there and are short on either money, friends or companionship. The guy sat with his head down reminded me of the loneliness and despair that drives many guys to take their own lives. The most common way of doing this is to end it all by jumping from one of the many high rise buildings. Unfortunately, it happens more frequently than you think.

Soi 6 sitting precariously.

The surrounding areas of Soi 6 are being heavily redeveloped as of Dec 2016. From the looks of things it’s not a matter of if but when Soi 6 will be levelled and a soulless hotel resort / mall / tourist attraction will be plonked in its place. My advice is if you like Soi 6 enjoy it while you can because one day it may be gone…

Absolutely love your camera work. The panning is pleasantly slow and makes for relaxing viewing.
Your editing is equally professional culminating in a first class clip.

Frank Richter says:

I love your sense for details, for recognizing the small things. You are not somebody who is only in his head and goes blindly through life being only immersed with his personal stuff.
