Ever wanted to fly like the Green Goblin in the Spiderman comics, or ride a hover board like Marty McFly in the Back to the Future Movies? Well, here is your chance! It´s called “Flyboarding” and we had great fun watching this new “Super Hero” Sport on one of Koh Samui´s best beaches, Chaweng Beach in Koh Samui, Thailand. This new beach water sports attraction is available to most people for a fee and certainly looks like allot of fun although very challenging. If you did not know what this sport was called, what would you call it? We called it Sea Flying or water hoverboard / Hoverboarding, until we found out that this water sport is called Flyboard or Flyboarding!

Wiki writes about the Flyboard, “A Flyboard is a type of water jetpack attached to a personal water craft (PWC) which supplies propulsion to drive the Flyboard through air and water to perform a sport known as flyboarding. A Flyboard rider stands on a board connected by a long hose to a watercraft. Water is forced under pressure to a pair of boots with jet nozzles underneath which provide thrust for the rider to fly up to 15 m (49 ft) in the air or to dive headlong through the water down to 2.5 m (8 ft)…The first Flyboard World Championships took place in Doha, Qatar in October 2012.”

Wikitravel writes about Chaweng Beach, “Chaweng is the largest and most popular of Samui’s beaches, and is usually divided into four sections: North Chaweng, Central Chaweng, South Chaweng and Chaweng Noi (Little Chaweng) which is around a headland and at the southern most tip of Chaweng. Chaweng Beach is approximately 7 km long, making it the longest beach on the east coast. It is lined with coconut trees and boasts year long, warm (temperatures range between 25-28°C.) emerald-blue waters in the Gulf of Thailand…”.

Wiki writes about Ko Samui, “Ko Samui (or Koh Samui, Thai: เกาะสมุย, Thai pronunciation: [kɔ̀ sàmūj]) is an island off the east coast of the Kra Isthmus, Thailand. Geographically in the Chumphon Archipelago, it is administratively part of Surat Thani Province. Ko Samui is Thailand’s second-largest island after Phuket, with an area of 228.7 km2, a population of over 63,000 and a hotel occupancy rate of 73% as the number of visitors increases.Abundant tourist resources, sandy beaches, coral reefs, and coconut trees are present on the island…”

This flyboard footage is filmed on Chaweng Beach one of Koh Samui´s top tourist resort beaches. The flyboarding footage is filmed with a Panasonic HC-VX870 4K video camera.

This footage is filmed with a Panasonic HC-VX870 4K video camcorder. Panasonic writes about the HC-VX870, “Capture your vision in 4K video – Elevate your creativity with 4K video. Enjoy greater detail, HDR exposure and improved camera control with Level Shot Function and 5-Axis Hybrid O.I.S.+.”
